The Udayshanth and Angelika Fernando Foundation is dedicated to supporting and fostering opportunities for Sri Lankan artists, strengthening the local arts ecosystem through regional and international engagement. Originally founded as the Udayshanth Fernando Foundation in 2020, the organisation’s mission was re-envisioned following the passing of Angelika Fernando in 2022, reflecting her dedication to supporting charitable endeavors. Alongside all our fundraising efforts the foundation dedicates a portion of our funding to a charity identified annually.

KALĀ, an initiative of the Foundation, fosters dialogue and creative growth by connecting artists, curators, and institutions across South Asia, facilitating exhibitions, residencies, and knowledge-sharing that contribute to the sustainable development of the region’s artistic landscape.
In 2021, the foundation launched the Artists for Artists Production Fund (A4A)—a response to the economic challenges faced by Sri Lankan artists. This initiative provides direct support to art practitioners, ensuring they can continue to develop new creative directions and produce innovative work, independent of financial barriers. By offering a locally grounded alternative to competitive international grants, A4A nurtures a homegrown environment where artists can sustain their practice while pushing the boundaries of contemporary art in Sri Lanka.Through these initiatives, the Udayshanth and Angelika Fernando Foundation remains committed to empowering artists, fostering collaboration, and strengthening Sri Lanka’s presence within the region.
